Dear families,
I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween weekend.
Over the past month, I have been blessed with opportunities to spend meaningful time in some of our school communities. At St. Peter Catholic School in Trenton, I joined families for a lively game night and had the pleasure of seeing the connection shared throughout the evening.
I also returned to our Catholic school on Wolfe Island, a special place that feels like a true extension of the island and sits at the heart of its community.
At St. Gregory Catholic School in Picton, I was delighted to spend a few precious moments playing and learning alongside the kindergarten students. Each visit was a wonderful reminder of the strong sense of community in each of our Catholic schools.
I’m pleased to share a few other items of note from the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board:
- The Fall 50/50 Raffle is now open! The winner from the spring raffle took home over $42,000. Proceeds from the raffle go directly to supporting local families during times of crisis through the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic Education Foundation: Fall 2026 ALCE Foundation 50/50 - Rafflebox
- The ALCDSB is proud to share growth in our EQAO results. This growth reflects the hard work of our students, educators, and families. More information here: ALCDSB Celebrates Growth in EQAO Results | Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board
- This past spring, our students were asked to take a student census survey. You can see that we have posted the preliminary results on our board website. These results will help us to build a deeper understanding of our student population and to identify opportunities to improve our practices. As always, I thank you for your continued support and partnership with our Catholic schools. As we end the month of October, dedicated to the Holy Rosary, let us move forward with the words of Pope Leo XIV, who encourages all of us to accompany this prayer with action. May we carry this invitation into our daily lives through simple acts of kindness, compassion, and service, caring for one another and reaching out to those in need.
